Our PlasticBusters volunteers have been very busy participating in both individual and group activities since social distancing measures for the general public were lifted back June. It has been great to be back in action after such a long period without team activities, and especially connecting again with our volunteers!

Our last activities have been focused around the area of the Old Castletown Road, Kewaigue Hill and Middle Park Estate. Despite previous clean-ups around the area before the lockdown, we have unfortunately continued finding the sides of the these roads full of litter. A shame.

Our last activity focused on cleaning up the road between Kewaigue Hill and the New Castletown Road (Braddan), where we picked over one hundred and fifty pounds of plastic, cans, glass, and other non-recyclable waste around the area. Most of the litter was collected on the sides of the road, do you want to guess where this came from…?

With this we have now carried out 13 group clean-up activities in the Isle of Man to preserve the ecosystems of this unique UNESCO Biosphere nation, where we have so far collected over 1,500 pounds of litter. And this is only counting our organised group activities, as many of our PlasticBusters continue working hard on their own!

Thanks so much to all volunteers!

Note: All materials collected in our activities are properly separated and taken to the nearby amenity site for recycling.
