PlasticBusters

Yet another record-breaking event for PlasticBusters, with now over a tonne of litter collected so far this year!

Our PlasticBusters group event this Sunday was supported by a record number of 25 enthusiastic volunteers, who worked tirelessly to clean up a large section of Peel Rd. / Ballakermeen Rd. in Douglas.

This time we were joined by a large group of students from King William’s College (KWC) and another from HSBC Bank Isle of Man, who again were sadly shocked by the amount of litter collected during the activity, as many as 32 full bags of plastic, cans, glass, and other non-recyclable waste weighting in total circa 380 pounds!.

I could never have imagined we would be collecting so much litter, this is such a shame!” said one of the volunteers that joined us for the first time.

With this we have now carried out 18 group clean-up activities in the Isle of Man to preserve the ecosystems of this unique UNESCO Biosphere nation, where we have so far collected over 2,400 pounds of litter (over a tonne!). And this is only counting our organised group activities, as many of our PlasticBusters continue working hard on their own!

Thanks so much to all volunteers!

Note: All materials collected in our activities are properly separated and taken to the nearby amenity site for disposal/recycling.
