PlasticBusters selected as a finalist at the Awards for Excellence 2021
We are very proud to announce that PlasticBusters has been awarded a finalist position at the Isle of Man Newspapers Awards for Excellence 2021 for our strong commitment to sustainability and the protection and enhancement of the island’s environment.
Thank you to the Isle of Man Newspapers and the judging panel, and to the Isle of Man Creamery for its sponsorship of the Protecting Our Environment Award. Many congratulations to all finalists and best of luck to everyone! The Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, 15th April in the Royal Hall, Vila Marina (Douglas, Isle of Man).
It has taken lots of hard work during this year to get where we are now which has only been possible due to the strong support and commitment of our troop of volunteer PlasticBusters around the world!. HUGE thanks to all you guys!
The Isle of Man - the first entire nation to be given the status of UNESCO Biosphere - is a special place for people and for nature. This award category is open to organisations of any size or type that can demonstrate a commitment to protecting and enhancing the Island’s environment through activities or initiatives that support and complement its Biosphere status.
Also known as biosphere reserves, biospheres are international sites of excellence where active conservation sits alongside responsible development; ‘living landscapes’ where there is a more balanced relationship between people and nature. The Isle of Man is the first entire country in the world to have been awarded this prestigious UNESCO status.
Candidates for the Awards have been judged on how their values and actions respect those outlined in the Biosphere Isle of Man Pledge. These are:
Protect our natural resources
Develop our economy in a sustainable way.
Support and promote our cultural heritage.
Make our environmental impact positive wherever possible..
Engage with the local community.
Promote our outstanding living landscapes through active involvement with Biosphere Isle of Man.
