PlasticBusters back in action after the lockdown!

Our PlasticBusters volunteers in the Isle of Man are now back in action after a period of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, during which we have been following the Isle of Man Government’s advice to protect our volunteers and the community.

And it was indeed a great morning, picking up nearly two hundred pounds of plastic, cans, glass, and other non-recyclable litter around Governor’s Bridge and Summerhill Glen in Douglas. It felt so well to be back in action after three months without team activities, and to connect again with our volunteers!. Most of the litter was collected on the edge of a river, do you want to guess where would it have ended up going…?

With this we have now carried out 11 group clean-up activities in the Isle of Man to preserve the ecosystems of this unique UNESCO Biosphere nation, where we have so far collected over 1,200 pounds of litter. And this is only counting our organised group activities, as many of our PlasticBusters have been working hard on their own during the pandemic!

Thanks so much to all volunteers!

All the materials collected in our activities are properly separated and taken to the nearby amenity site for recycling.
